With so much happening in Atlanta, it’s often hard to keep track of all of the discounts, events and good deeds happening in the city. I’m a big fan of top five lists, so here is my five things in Atlanta I think you care about today list. Some are being offered by clients but hey, just because they are being offered by clients doesn’t mean you wont enjoy. I can promise that these 5 events, discouts, places and websites in Atlanta are all worth caring about. So here goes:
1. I ♥ W ATL This is one of the coolest promotions I’ve seen happening in the city right now. All you have to do is text TGIW to 99699 every Wednesday to score the weekly deal. You’ll then get a text back from the W telling you what the weekly deal is. You have one week to redeem the deal by visiting the participating hotel and showing them your text. Today’s deal got you into the W hotel downtown and mingling with Kevin from Top Chef. For more information visit the W Hotel Facebook Page.
2. Vinings Jubilee – While technically not in Atlanta (just outside the city in Vinings) this little shopping haven is one of my favorites. If you’ve never been, you must check it out. Vinings Jubilee features a great mix of local stores and national brands and has styles ranging from traditional and preppy to really funky and artsy, so no matter who you take they’re sure to find something they like. In addition to great shopping, Vinings Jubilee also features several fabulous restaurants including Noche, The Grape and many more. For more information visit www.viningsjubilee.com
3. Save the Hooch Campaign – Presented by SweetWater Brewery, the Save the Hooch campaign is dedicated to cleaning up the pollution in the Chattahooche river. This month alone, SweetWater will be traveling to several metro-Atlanta Taco Macs to help raise money and awareness for the program. So make sure to ask about the Save the Hooch program next time you head out to your local Taco Mac. You can fill out a fish and help clean up the river that we all spent our summers on for as little as a dollar.
4. The annual Virginia Highlands Summerfest is taking place this weekend and it should be a great outing. When Sam visited me last weekend she told me it felt like Atlanta looked for an excuse to add “fest” to the end of a word and celebrate it. While that might be true, it doesn’t mean any of the festivals are any less enjoyable or fun. With arts and crafts, a 5k race, Kidsfest, food and live music the Virginia Highlands Summerfest should be a great family weekend or a fun way to spend a day with friends or on a date.
5. Atlanta Deals and Steals seem to be everywhere you look these days. But one of my favorite sites is SuzySaid Atlanta. Written by two local gals, this website is a plethora of information about anything a girl could ever need to know about life in Atlanta. Whether you’re looking for great stationary or a summer camp for the kids, SuzySaid has the information. The best party about SuzySaid is that it transends one demographic. It can speak to everyone from their early 20s to women with children.
Update: Miz Walraven just told me that Vinings is technically Atlanta. While this cute and quaint little section of town might have an Atlanta address and barely be ITP, I still feel as though it’s far enough out to be not Atlanta. Plus it’s in Cobb county. Doesn’t count.
