Oh the illustrious ‘ellipses status.’ You know what I’m talking about – usually put out in a time of crisis an ‘elipses status’ (thanks Bear for the name) usually falls along the lines of:

“It’s good to know who my true friends were…” or “Today I got an email that changed my life…”. Always dramatic, never very informative and designed specifically to elicit a response from the Facebook community.

I’ve never understood the allure of the ellipses status. Why would you want to put your whole world out there to the public? Just to see how many people care? How many people will stop and say “What’s wrong?” But today I realized there is a sense of comfort in the ellipses status. It’s nice to know that at any moment you can put out a dramatic one liner and everyone in your life from 5th grade till now has the opportunity to tell you how much you mean to them.
