St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s ABCs of Cancer

By now many of you have seen the sea of encouraging messages on my wall, you’ve seen the 7 inches of hair I cut off and you’ve seen the “such good news today” update from yesterday.

So here’s the deal. In an effort to save myself from explaining 1,000 times what is going on, I am going to update you all at once – via blog. For those super personal people who never tell the world anything, this might seem like I’m putting my business out there in a “needs attention kind of way”. That’s cool, I kind of feel that way too, but for me – it’s the only way I can do this and not cry every time someone asks “what’s wrong.”

Last Saturday my dad was diagnosed with Acute lymphocytic leukemia. It has not been the best week of my life to say the least, but everything has been going really well (as well as things with cancer can go). I’m not going to bore you with all the details, but it looks like we are going to be on an upward climb for the next few months (:) – upward is always better than downward). Obviously as with any kind of cancer, things could change at a moments notice so we are all taking things day by day.

I would like to say thank you to all of you who have reached out to support both me and my family. It means a lot to us to know that we have such great friends and family. Your letters, emails, texts and calls have meant a lot to me. Knowing that I have a plethora of people that I can turn to at any moment is very comforting.

All I ask is that you keep my father on your list of prayers and as we move forward, I will try to keep you updated.

If you’re thinking about giving a gift, we ask that instead you donate whatever you would have spent to either Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Both have done so much to make sure that children are able to grow up and lead normal lives and we would like to give back to them in any way possible.

Thanks again and I love you all.
