2 is a curse
For a few months now KP and I have been going out together. As the only two single girls amongst our friends, we have been doing our single thing together for a long time. It’s been ok…. and by ok I mean we were cursed.
It seemed as though every time we went out in a group of 3 or more, someone was bound to get hit on. Just two? Nothing. I recently realized why this is. 2 is a curse. It wasn’t KP or myself, we are fun. It was the fact that there were two of us. I think the 2 curse is easier to explain in an example, so I am going to take a stab at it.
Girl’s A and B are standing at a bar talking (sitting is also a curse, but that’s a blog post for another day). Boy U is really digging on Girl A but his buddy is hitting on Skanky C in the corner. If he approaches the TWO girls, he has to engage them both in conversation – a rather intimidating prospect. So he bails and goes to hit on Skanky Z, the easy lay instead.
Version 2:
Girl’s L, M, N are standing by a bar, wanting to cry because their feet hurt so bad from the 4 inch unbroken-in shoes that looked so “cute” 4 hours ago and were so “comfortable” during the 4 minute walk through the shoe department earlier that day. Boy K thinks that Girl N is pretty cute, so he approaches her. Girl’s L and M are super stoked for their friend and chat off to the side while giving her encouraging looks and nods about how cute K is. K’s friends later come over to join and everyone falls in love…. or in lust.
See what I mean? Two is a curse. It’s super hard to approach two girls unless there are two of you as well simply because it’s overwhelming. If there are three or more people, it’s cool because you know the others can entertain themselves. Life lessons from Michelle. You can thank me later when you find your “other half.”
myagenda: one step forward in daily organization
One day I’m sure Google will come out with an amazing way for me to keep track of my daily tasks and all of the things I have going on in my life. But right now I’m still a little old school. There’s something to be said for handwriting a to-do list and then picking up the pen and crossing them things off as you complete them. It really brings me a sense of peace and satisfaction. On that note, it’s important to me that I always have paper and pen with me to write things down. I am actively forgetting things – unless that is – I write them down. Once handwritten on a piece of paper, things are seldom forgotten. Well that is, until I loose that paper (totally kidding).
I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about this momAgenda that’s been hitting the market. Everyone says it’s the best agenda out there and I’ve been dying to have one. However there was one major stopping me from rushing to the website and picking up a copy. The name. Hideous. What (childless) 23 year old wants to carry around an agenda that says MOM right on the front? Talk about a kiss of death.
Today I caved. I visited the website, I took stock of the products and I ordered. GASP. No. I did not order a heinously named momagenda (sorry all you moms out there). I ordered myagenda. The young girly version of the momagenda. So it’s paid for, it’s in the mail and I will let you know if it’s transformed my life and worth the 50 price tag (shipping included). Sigh. Why are good planners always so costly?
i have a confession
I might be the only person in America, but I hate Domino’s new crust. I can’t stand it. New sauce – good. New whatever else they did – fine, I can’t really tell. New crust – terrible. A. I can tell I am eating about a bigillion more calories, which annoys me in the first place. B. It’s way too garlicy, buttery and greasy. C. I don’t know why I am eating Domino’s at 9:45 at night. My only excuse is that KP took my car, I have no food and I was hungry.
I wonder if there’s a way to get the pizza without the new crust? Thoughts?
P.S. I think the neighbors upstairs are at it again. You might remember my blog post about “overcompensation“? KP said it sounded like there was a wild party with multiple people while I was out of town and tonight looks like it might be the same. She’s just up there keeping it classy. No girls are invited to her parties, just guys.
I hope she moves soon…
