2 is a curse
For a few months now KP and I have been going out together. As the only two single girls amongst our friends, we have been doing our single thing together for a long time. It’s been ok…. and by ok I mean we were cursed.
It seemed as though every time we went out in a group of 3 or more, someone was bound to get hit on. Just two? Nothing. I recently realized why this is. 2 is a curse. It wasn’t KP or myself, we are fun. It was the fact that there were two of us. I think the 2 curse is easier to explain in an example, so I am going to take a stab at it.
Girl’s A and B are standing at a bar talking (sitting is also a curse, but that’s a blog post for another day). Boy U is really digging on Girl A but his buddy is hitting on Skanky C in the corner. If he approaches the TWO girls, he has to engage them both in conversation – a rather intimidating prospect. So he bails and goes to hit on Skanky Z, the easy lay instead.
Version 2:
Girl’s L, M, N are standing by a bar, wanting to cry because their feet hurt so bad from the 4 inch unbroken-in shoes that looked so “cute” 4 hours ago and were so “comfortable” during the 4 minute walk through the shoe department earlier that day. Boy K thinks that Girl N is pretty cute, so he approaches her. Girl’s L and M are super stoked for their friend and chat off to the side while giving her encouraging looks and nods about how cute K is. K’s friends later come over to join and everyone falls in love…. or in lust.
See what I mean? Two is a curse. It’s super hard to approach two girls unless there are two of you as well simply because it’s overwhelming. If there are three or more people, it’s cool because you know the others can entertain themselves. Life lessons from Michelle. You can thank me later when you find your “other half.”
remember that survey?
Remember that super cool survey that I asked everyone to fill out a long time ago? You know – the one about texting? Well…. almost two months later, I have the results. Honestly I wasn’t surprised at all. Let me know what you think.
1. You meet a person out and get her/his phone number. When are you most likely going to contact her/him? (via text or phone)
The majority (30%) of people will follow up within 1-2 days. This answer was seconded by 20% of people who said they would wait for the person to contact them.
2. Would you rather a receive a call or text?
50/50
3. When you like someone, how often do you find yourself doing the following?
| Every Day | 4-6 times a week | 2-4 times a week | Once a Week | Never | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Calling to chat | 5.3% | 7.9% | 55.3% | 23.7% | 7.9% | |
| Texting | 24.3% | 45.9% | 24.3% | 5.4% | 0.0% | |
| Asking to hang out | 5.4% | 2.7% | 56.8% | 32.4% | 2.7% | |
| Telling friends about the person | 27.0% | 35.1% | 21.6% | 10.8% | 5.4% | |
| Thinking about the person | 69.2% | 25.6% | 5.1% | 0.0% | 0.0% |
Not sure how I feel about the people who are asking people they’ve just met to hang out every day… but hey to each his/her own… moving on. Read the rest of this entry »
